Over the years LG has released some absolutely stunning flagship phones as well as phones in other categories. Now they have released a brand-new LG G6 SIM free. Does this new phone live up to the previous releases? This question and more will be answered here.
This phone looks very good from the front. What really makes this phone good is the fact that it has a very thin bezel and more display screen visible.
Thanks to this very thin bezel, this phone is actually slightly smaller than the LG G5 SIM free even though the display screen is slightly bigger on this newer version. The metal body of this phone really helps in getting this phone a premium look and the phone feels very sturdy as well.
From the front is where this phone really looks good, unfortunate the back does look a little outdated and yet again they have put the power button on the back which is annoying.
The Display Screen
The LG G6 SIM free has a bigger display screen the previous model, you now get a 5.7-inch display screen that has ultra-high-definition resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels, display screen also has an aspect ratio of 18.9, not all games and videos work on this aspect ratio yet, but when you do find ones that do then you can really see the benefits of the display screen on this phone.
Visuals look very good on display screen. Colours are very vivid as well is being sharp and detail shows through nicely. Whether you are viewing pictures or watching video the display screen makes these tasks of pleasure.
This phone comes with a dual camera. They are both 13-megapixel cameras and one is your regular camera where is the other one is a wide angled lens which is really great for capturing larger, wider images close-up. The front facing camera is 5 megapixels and it also has a wide angled lens which is great for taking selfies with groups of friends.
Although it doesn’t have all the latest hardware specs such as the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, this phone still runs pretty smooth and will not disappoint with performance. This phone has the Snapdragon 821 processor which is quad-core 2×2.35 GHz Kryo & 2×1.6 GHz Kryo CPU. You also get 4 GB of RAM which is more than enough to help with multitasking.
Storage space fills up fast these days thanks to the ability to take extremely high-quality pictures, videos as well as having millions of apps to choose from and that is why it is important to have adequate storage space. The LG G6 SIM free has a 32 GB model and a 64 GB model with the option to add a microSD card for additional storage.
Unfortunately, battery life isn’t very good for Smartphones in general and the LG G6 battery life is standard for a Smartphone. You can probably get about days’ worth of average use out of it before the phone requires a charge. The battery in the G6 is better than the previous model’s battery so LG has slightly upgraded it.
This is a very good flagship phone but it is let-down by using some older hardware like the Snapdragon 821 processor instead of the latest Snapdragon 835. There is no doubt this phone looks good, but with Samsung doing something different with its flagship phones the LG G6 SIM free could start to look dated later on this year and throughout next year until the G7 is released. If money is not an issue then is definitely worth waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S8 but if you’re looking for a flagship phone that is in a lower price bracket than current flagship phone are in, than G6 SIM free is a good choice.
